Ongoing Financial Support
Zion Lutheran Church is grateful for any contributions from our membership and extended community. Donations may be given on Sunday mornings at worship, dropped off at the church office, made through your bank (if that service is available to you), or online by clicking below. Thank you for giving.
Memorials
Gifts to the Memorial Fund provide financial assistance to our local ministry in special and lasting ways. In the past the Memorial Func has purchased such items as the
- stained glass windows
- conference table in the library
- benches outside the Education Building
- banners for worship services
- paraments for the altar
All money donated to the Memorial Fund is spent rather than being invested long term. Contributions may be made to not only memorialize or honor loved ones, but also to commemorate a special event or occasion. Names of loved ones being memorialized are recorded in the Memorial Book maintained by the Trust Committee. With any donations to the Memorial Fund, please be sure to indicate who or what is being honored, and if you have a special area of ministry in which you would like your donation used. You may drop off your donation at the church office, mail it to Zion, or use your bank’s e-check service (if it is available to you). Thank you!
Endowments
The Endowment Fund of Zion Lutheran Church was established for members and friends who want their congregation to have long term benefits from their gifts. The fund provides an opportunity for those who want to make a lasting charitable gift or bequeath a portion of their estate to the ministry of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through Zion Lutheran Church.
Gifts to the Endowment Fund are invested permanently. Only earnings from the fund will be used to enhance Zion’s ministry. This means that an individual’s gifts will continue to enhance the mission of the church long after the gift has been made. The grand piano in our sanctuary is one example of a purchase made from the income of the Nora Matson Endowment. If you would like to include the ministries of Zion Lutheran Church in your estate planning through a contribution to the Endowment Fund, please contact the church office.
Donate while shopping
Fred Meyer Community Awards
One of the best ways to help finance the Church is to sign up for Fred Meyer Community Awards. Simply go to www.fredmeyer.com/i/community/community-rewards and click on the button to link your Rewards card, then follow these directions:
- Log into your Fred Meyer Rewards account (or create a new one with your Rewards card number).
- When prompted, enter Zion Lutheran Church’s number, which is 87601.
Every time you shop with your Rewards Card, you will be supporting Zion with a donation made from Fred Meyer. You will continue earning the same number of Rewards points and fuel points. You will also continue getting rebates as usual.
This Fred Meyer program is a means of giving back to the community. They gift a percentage of your purchase to our church in quarterly checks to Zion.
Little Free Pantry
Donate while out for a walk or driving by! Zion sponsors a little free pantry on the north side of our property right next to the Wilson Play Fields. Please join us in this ministry to help serve the needs of our neighbors in this community we share.
Kent Food Bank
Unopened, non-perishable food items may be placed in the shopping cart in the Narthex anytime. They will be bundled up and taken to the Kent Food Bank to help keep their shelves stocked.
Kent Hope, Vine Maple Place, Corner of Love
Zion supports these three ministries all year long, and a list of the items they need on a regular basis is posted along with their bins in the Fellowship Hall. Items include things like regular-sized and travel-sized hygiene items, household paper products, and over-the-counter medications and first aid products. Any items left in the bins will be delivered to the appropriate ministry.
