The days are getting shorter with the summer garden crops starting to wane. Soon you will not be watering flowers and vegetables anymore. However, there is always a vital watering need. Jesus pours His Living Water on each of us through his Life, Death, and Resurrection. Your Bible contains messages of this Living Water! The Word of God nourishes us with the essential elements for real life. In a garden of flowers or vegetables, each plant brings abundance as intended by God’s creation to beautify and support our life. Discipleship small group Bible studies function in the same way. God created us to grow in His Word as disciples and spread the message of His salvation, love, and teachings throughout the world, Matt. 28: 18-20. How does this happen? Okay, so you come to church on Sunday to get watered when the pastor proclaims God’s Word. That’s a good start! Now that you have been watered with the Word, how do you grow? A key way is in a Discipleship small group Bible study, allowing you to take in this Living Word from others in a casual setting and grow as you are being taught and also teaching others His Word. It’s that easy, as you are growing with friends. Then as an avid gardener, you are always on the lookout for a neighbor’s/friend’s flowers to transplant. Your small group Bible study works the same way, when you invite friends that need Christ’s Living Water to come to your group and flourish in His garden. Would you like to join a Discipleship Group or invite a friend? You can meet anytime or anyplace setting aside an hour a week to get into the Word with your group. Join a current discipleship group, or be part of a new one! For more information or to join, contact the church office at 253-631-0100, or Bruce Merle at 253-631-3681 or bkmerle@comcast.net.
